College of Consciousness Studies

The Consciousness Studies program is designed for those students who are interested developing themselves and their awareness as a primary goal. It is, in essence, a program in self-development. The courses are designed to provoke thought into the mind of consciousness itself. The program is akin to a degree in Psychology or a degree in Philosophy in that it is designed to simply provoke thought and develop the student's ability to think for himself. In our case however, the program goes a step further in that it is designed to teach students to raise their vibration and step into the world as self-actualized and fully realized individuals.

Analyst Abraham Maslow referred to a type of consciousness as self-actualization. His idea was that human beings are basically good and not evil and have a need for wellness, awareness, and enlightenment. Maslow's idea that once human beings learn to accept themselves, others and the natural world the way they are, they can more fully function as thriving, creative and self actualized beings. Maslow believed guilt, fear and restriction are why many persons find it so hard to evolve, especially emotionally and spiritually. This is where the Consciousness Studies Program comes in.

Consciousness sees human nature for what it is, shows a lack of crippling guilt or undeserved shame and can enjoy themselves without regret or apology, they have no unnecessary inhibitions and therefore can grow and fulfill their potential. This is the path toward not only spiritual and emotional health but also personal growth. In the Consciousness Studies Program, classes will be offered informed by Carl Jung's philosophy of Metaphysics as well as other disciplines and theories regarding consciousness. Jung wrote that our subconscious mind is formed from knowledge and experiences gathered over a lifetime (and possibly from the lives of our ancestors where knowledge is stored in genetic structures).

Thus if we are to have harmony between our conscious and sub-conscious minds and the external world we experience, we must unite these apparently separate things. To do to this on a fundamental level requires an understanding of what matter is, and how we are connected to all matter and life in the universe. The best way this can be used is by exploring consciousness, and then by creating your own life as a self-actualized individual.

Consciousness Studies is a very flexible program. It is a great for a student to explore their potentials. While there are several required courses, the rest of the degree is up to you. Create your own degree from any of the electives. You can mix and match with other programs. This degree is also an excellent option for those who are interested in applying their life credits toward a degree.

The purpose of the Consciousness Studies Program is to create an environment where students can further their growth, by learning in the privacy of their own homes. In advancing our mission, IMU's Department of Consciousness Studies Program gives each student a good foundation to further their own studies and careers by a practical application of the intuitive arts in areas of divination and spiritual study.

Very few online universities offer courses which are taught by world renowned experts in their fields. But through the convenience of our online program we able to do this without the experts having to travel outside of their homes or to move to another area in order to teach their courses. In this way, IMU becomes a facilitator in helping to make the dreams of our students become a reality while placing them in a learning environment with the world's top experts in the area of Consciousness Studies.

On our staff at IMU we have gathered together some of the globe's most recognized authorities in the field of Consciousness Studies. These include individual experts who have traveled, studied and written books on the growth of human consciousness and Jung's doctrine of metaphysics.

We are proud to say that at IMU our experts are just that—pioneering individuals who have proven themselves by applying their knowledge of consciousness into their own domain while putting such practices in a real way by furthering research over their own lifetime goals.

Upon the completion of our degree programs, students are given tools for further studies and enhancements, and are encouraged to carry on with Consciousness Studies over their own long-term goals. Students can use such knowledge in areas of writing and publishing, religious ordination, counseling and healing, facilitating and teaching, media appearances and the development of the professional skills necessary for optimal performance in a wide variety of occupations, not just through the Consciousness Studies Program.
