The word "Paranormal" stems from the Greek word para, which can be
translated as "beyond" or "along the side of" common human
experiences which are generally accepted as true or within our
current understanding of nature. However, since the beginning of
humankind mysterious encounters have been reported on that reach
beyond what we understand and know in our everyday lives. Such
encounters include a broad range of subject matter such as ghosts,
haunted places, ESP, aliens, angels, sacred sites, near death
experiences, past lives, mystical states, precognitive dreams and
cryptozoology.
The parapsychologist Rhea White coined the term "Exceptional Human
Experiences" as a broad category for the paranormal. More simply,
the word "paranormal" has come to provide an umbrella for subject
matter that remains hidden, unknown or that not fully explained.
The paranormal has never been more popular than it is right
now.
On our staff at IMU we offer some of the world's most premiere
experts in these fields of the unknown. These include best-selling
authors, paranormal investigators, cryptozoologists, ghost tour
owners, renowned psychic mediums, parapsychologists, and even
recognized television personalities. We are proud to say that at
IMU our experts are just that -- pioneering individuals who have
proven themselves by their award-winning works and studies while
putting them into practice over lifetime goals.
The purpose of the Paranormal Studies Department is to create an
environment where students can further their growth, understanding
and creative endeavors in the privacy of their own homes. In
advancing our mission, IMU's Department of Paranormal Studies
program gives each student s good foundation to further their own
studies and careers in the growing and popular field of the
unknown.
Very few online universities offer courses which are taught by
world renowned experts in their fields. But through the convenience
of our online program we able to do this without the experts having
to travel outside of their homes or to move to another area in
order to teach their courses. In this way, IMU becomes a
facilitator in helping to make the dreams of our students become a
reality while placing them in a learning environment with some of
the world's top experts.
Upon the completion of our degree programs, students are given to
tools for further studies and enhancements, and are encouraged to
carry on with their works in their long-term goals. Students can
use such knowledge in areas of metaphysical writing and publishing,
facilitating and teaching, media appearances, creating paranormal
businesses, the development of the professional skills necessary
for optimal performance in a wide variety of
occupations.
