Energy Medicine is a form of healing based on ancient practices that treat the energy fields inside and outside the body to restore balance. Ancients believed that the source of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual imbalance was blocked energy or unbalanced prana, chi, ki or “life force energies.” Only when these energy fields are aligned can the body start to heal itself and come into wholeness. In the East the idea of energy healing was accepted but in Western medicine healing of the “energy” fields has been overlooked (with the exception of faith healers and miracle workers) until more recently.
Since the 60’s the idea of energy medicine has been evolving into more modern forms of holistic healing techniques---techniques which address mind, body and spirit. Honoring and combining the healing techniques of indigenous people and other cultures with new discoveries, developers and practitioners of energy medicine today cover a wide range of methodologies. Ancient forms of energy healing such as Reiki, Kolaimni, “laying on of hands,” and prayer send energy to the body to jump start the healing process.
Kinesiology through muscle testing explores the body to find where stress is hiding in order to bring the body back into balance through balancing the meridian system, the neurovascular system, and lymphatic systems. Applied Kinesiology and Touch for Health Kinesiology which combined the Eastern meridian/acupressure system with “muscle testing” among other techniques spawned a host of kinesiologies such as Educational Kinesiology, and Wellness Kinesiology to name a few. Roger Callahan’s early application of kinesiology techniques for the emotional body was ground-breaking work in the field of energy psychology. His work later surfaced as Emotional Freedom Technique and other energy psychology techniques using tapping on meridian points. Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine ® combines Touch for Health Kinesiology, and the Eastern chakra system.
The ancient Eastern chakra systems, movement sequences, the value of play, as well as the use of sound and color are recognized as valuable systems within energy healing. Nutrition, yoga, movement for healing, breath work, hypnosis, and exploration of DNA enhancement are explored in depth and from a wider perspective than before. Some methodologies such as Brennan’s Hands of Light explore the auras as well as other energy patterns. Systems such as Quantum Touch ™, Energy medicine®, and Healing Touch, to name a few, combine techniques from various modalities to form their particular approaches.
The purpose of the School of Energy Medicine is to create an environment that allows students to explore the wisdom of the past and the cutting edge healing technology and techniques of the present guided by the masters in the field.
Whether it is Ayurvedic medicine, Reiki Tummo (Tibetan Reiki) or Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type, the School of Energy Medicine strives to bring the masters in the fields to the students in the privacy of their own homes. Very few online universities offer courses which are taught by world renowned experts in the field. IMU has gathered some of the world’s most recognized authorities in the field of Energy Medicine. By teaching the courses themselves these masters preserve the original authenticity of their work and create an accurate legacy for future generations. These developers, masters and pioneers in their fields set the standards for certification of their material ensuring the student that their education is rooted in authenticity.
The mission of the School of Energy Medicine at IMU is to give each student a solid foundation in Energy Medicine to enhance their personal knowledge and careers by practical application of energy healing in areas of personal growth and practice.
Upon the completion of our degree programs (associate level through doctoral level) at IMU, students are given tools necessary to complete long-term goals. Our students can use their acquired knowledge in areas of writing and publishing, obtaining religious ordination, counseling and healing, facilitating and teaching, making media appearances and developing professional skills necessary for optimal personal and career performance in a wide variety of occupations.
